Jerome's work focuses Valbuena, "in an urban utopia, combining the known and the imagined, the original and fragmented, which allows us a personal world, based on memory from a different perspective. "Years ago when I was inclined to further study the history of art and the specific problems posed by plastic arts and the construction of visual images, it was important to meet with Latin American art, and more specifically art and cultural processes that have taken place in Mexico and Cuba struck me, the way the Mexican and Cuban artists were able to consolidate a cultural identity that stood against the invasion of foreign cultures and how these influences assimilated brewing a international art, born of his own bowels, the result of a deep understanding and reassessment of its cultural past
Another record that appears in my work load is the magic they bring to the sculptures at the time of its creation. At some point appears to me, an inalienable necessity of mind and heart, to find meaning in the mysteries and magic that surround the objects of pre-Columbian art. Always intrigued me, the constant search for the ancient magicians, to change your being and be another while still being themselves. The continued use of masks and costumes with the aim of becoming "other." Thus, in my work I find the ease of designing my instincts to the image he built from scratch, discovering with astonishment that "other" in metamorphosis, that from my body, finally appears before my eyes, becoming, for me , in the essence of magic act.
